I am consistently asked, What creates success? What is it that is success? What is it that allows someone to achieve something over and over again and live a fulfilling life and keep knocking off goals? Why is it that certain people can do one thing and do really really well at it and then jump into another thing and do really really well at it? And then do something else again and do really really well. Why is that some people just seem to be born achievers yet other people struggle?
What it comes down to is philosophy and story or your story. What is our philosophy on life? And what is our philosophy each area of life?
DO YOU HAVE A BAD PHILOSOPHY?
The clients I have worked with in the past or the people that come to my seminars, come to my events or the people that I speak to who struggle the most usually have a bad philosophy or bad story that impacts their life in a bad way. That philosophy may be that they need luck to have things go their way in life or they maybe waiting for that magic pill that one day is going to change everything for them. It’s the wrong philosophy.
Do you know one of the greatest selling products at the moment is weight loss? Weight loss is a huge, huge industry. Did you know, that especially in the Westernized world, weight loss products outsell food or the weight loss industry is bigger than the food industry or at least the healthy food industry anyway. By healthy food, I mean real food like fruits and vegetables and lean meats and so on. It’s ridiculous when you think about it that as a whole country and a whole society that more people will spend more money on weight loss products then they will on food and good quality food and the reason is because of their philosophy.
It’s their story, the story we have created as a society as a whole which then impacts the individual which is “when everything goes right then I will achieve what I want”. When I have the perfect diet, the perfect strategy, when I have the perfect way of making money, when I figure out the simple formula to create success or when I find the perfect relationship or the perfect partner or the perfect health plan then it will all work out fine. The truth is, that day never comes. It never comes because it is a bad philosophy, a bad story.
CREATE DAILY HABITS
So what do you need to do to create success in any area, and be a successful person who is achieving greatness in any area of life. Well we are all achieving in one or two areas of our life, unless you are really struggling. But most people are achieving in one or two areas of life and their philosophy is different. Normally daily habits or consistent habits create success in any area of life. It’s doing the boring things over and over and over again. When I meet people who have created financial abundance and haven’t just created it once, they haven’t just won the lotto, because statistics show that people who win the lotto have a higher chance of going bankrupt and the reason is because they have a bad philosophy to statrt with. Eg “When I have money then I can have a happy, amazing life” which doesn’t work. Anyone that has built great fortune and great wealth knows that it is daily consistent actions that built their wealth in the first place therefore it is hard to lose it because it takes a long, long time for it to go backwards unless they do something crazy.
It’s the same with health. With the clients that I have consulted that have great health, they know that their daily consistent actions build on their health. They know that every time they go to the gym, they are building a little bit more on top of their success. Every good meal they are eating is building on their success. It’s constant building, whereas if we have a philosophy of “one quick thing is going to change everything,” it normally doesn’t. It normally leads to more pain. That is when I get clients and when I get people come to my events. Even if it is not me and its other coaches out there or other people who are achieving great things, people come to them and ask them, “What’s the one thing…?” “What’s the one formula…?” “What’s the one secret that works?” and again really there is none.
I remember Jim Rohn said, and if anyone doesn’t know him, he was an amazing mindset, motivation and wealth coach. He said,
“The things that lead to success are easy to do, they are also just as easy not to do”.
That is really the key right there. The simple things, done daily, lead to the greatest successes, not having the perfect plan, the perfect diet, the perfect wealth strategy or whatever it is you are trying to achieve. It is really about consistent daily actions. Every action is either building something great or it’s either a bad choice. It’s a negative choice, it’s leading to more negativity in our life.
CREATE A GOOD PHILOSOPHY
Now every day we make bad decisions, I can make hundreds of them everyday. I also create lots of good decisions that create a better lifestyle and that is because you need to really create a good philosophy first as that will drive the direction your mind goes.
So look each day at your actions.
- What are your actions?
- What are your thought patterns?
- What are your habits?
- What are your emotions telling you each and every day?
Are they based on a great philosophy or are they based on fear? Or based on not being enough? Are they based on, if you get all this one day then you will be happy, then one day you will be successful? For example, if you find the perfect strategy or the perfect plan then everything will come together for you, then you can feel good about life. Have a look at your story and the stories you tell yourself because every story you tell yourself is leading towards a greater future or is leading to more pain and that is normally a bad choice.
Take time out to look at your own philosophies in the areas of life that are working and the areas of life that you might not be succeeding in and find out what the difference is.
