This week I am sharing my top tips to smash through fear.
I have been to many seminars and events where participants are taught how to eliminate fear from their life. I have never found this to be possible and have never met a person who has eliminated fear from their life.
The truth is fear never leaves. There will always be times where we experience fear. The key to greater success and happiness is to understand how to use fear to achieve your goals and create the life you desire. It is also important to understand what fear really is as once you understand what fear is you can make an educated decision on whether it is fear or something else holding you back from achieving your goals.
1.) Is fear holding you back or something else?
Fear is a natural response to keep us safe from being physically injured or even dying. Other than that it is a fear of having our ego hurt or our identity or character questioned. For instance the fear of judgement is an ego protection mechanism that prevents us from being judged, criticised or having our character questioned. It is not a real fear.
If the fear someone is experiencing is fear of having their ego hurt or their identity judged then the person must make a decision, Will they let this fake fear define their future or is it time to step up and take the actions needed to produce the life and goals they desire?
In the past, fear or judgement or not being accepted was a valid fear as our life depended on fitting into our tribe. Those who were outcast from their tribe were commonly killed by wild animals and disease as there was no protection in numbers and no one to look after us if we were injured. In this day and age the fear of judgment may come from the other side of the world from someone we have never met, over social media. This makes this fear invalid for this day and age. It’s time to let go of what others think of you as today it is easier than ever to create an amazing life just as it is to be judged from those who you don’t know or whose opinions don’t matter.
2.) Learn to dance with fear
Fear can be crippling if you fight it. Anything you fight becomes stronger, just as 2 wrestlers who fight daily will each become stronger. In my event The Next Level I will talk about feeling the fear and aligning yourself with it so that you can achieve the goals you desire in life.
For me the fear of not archiving my goal of helping over 1 million people to create the life they desire or thriving and not experiencing many of my goals and dreams is painful. I use this pain and fear to drive me in the direction I want to go when I experience a fear of failing or being criticised. As long as I know in my heart I am doing things for the right reason I will use my fears to help me take action to achieve my goals.
3.) Be comfortable being you
Most humans greatest fears are the fear of being judged, being criticised, not fitting in, rejection and not being loved. By creating a daily practice of gratitude and self-love exercises you will find your self-confidence, self-worth, self-belief and self-esteem increasing. You will also find yourself being more grounded and emotionally strong to deal with negative judgements and criticisms. As long as you have a great vision, good intentions, a kind heart and goals that align with your life purpose, you have no reason to feel bad when others criticise and judge you. After all they are their judgements based on their beliefs, ideas, values and past experiences and not yours. Therefore their judgements belong to them, not you.
