This week I am exploring how you can increase your confidence. It is one of those things that without confidence it can emotionally affect our decisions and opportunities in life. Read on to learn how to increase your confidence today.
Over the past few weeks I have posted my top tips to:
- Increase your motivation
- Increase your physical energy
- Push through fear
- Create greater success
5 quick tips to increase your confidence
1.) Have more gratitude
Being grateful for what you already have is one of the most powerful ways to eliminate the fear of judgement or criticism from others. It will also leave you feeling grounded and empowered. The process of writing down 5-10 things I was grateful for each day changed my life forever. Give it a go.
2.) Realise that confidence comes with competence or practice.
Most people mistake confidence with courage as courage is what is needed when you start something new or are worried about the fear of judgement or failure. Someone with courage takes action despite fear. Over time they develop competence by having consistency in the new task or in the same situation which over times creates confidence. This week swap confidence for courage and watch your results shift as you take action despite your fears.
3.) Change your vocabulary
Language patterns heavily influence the way we feel. Catch yourself using disempowering or negative vocabulary and change it to suit the future result you desire. For example a person who continues to repeat the phrase: “I’m so unconfident” will hard wire that feeling into their unconscious psychological processes and will also hard wire the physical feeling of being unconfident until it becomes a daily unconscious response. Just by changing the phrase to “Each day I am becoming more and more confident and empowered” you will slowly notice your mental, emotional and physical confidence increase. Believe me, I used to struggle walking into a room with more than 3 people I didn’t know in it or meeting new people.
4.) Move your body
By moving your body with a minimum of 30 minutes of continuous exercise, you will notice a rapid shift in the way you feel and your confidence levels. Daily exercise is essential for the removal of toxins, to increase oxygen levels in the blood, increase mental, emotional and physical energy, to produce more feel good hormones and much more.
5.) This is the most important – Love you!
From a young age many of us have been taught to be everything except ourselves. From the way we look, how we dress, how we act and even our careers. For most they spend their whole life comparing themselves to the best of others and not to the best of themselves. This is the fastest way to not feeling good enough. The only way to feel great about yourself is to look for all of the things that are great about you and are unique. One of the most powerful days of my life was writing down my natural talents and spending time each week making them even better. This is one of the tasks we do in my live event Life By Design. Both are powerful in helping people align their mind, emotions and actions so they can create and live a happy, successful and fulfilling life.
Task: Each morning after writing down 10 things you are grateful for, write a list of 5-10 things you love about you.
It may surprise you how quick you find your confidence improving.
